Knight Electronics, Inc., doing business as SW Marketing Associates (“SW Marketing Associates,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operates the website at swmktg.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use and disclose it, and the rights and choices available to you.
SW Marketing Associates is a manufacturers’ representative firm serving the electronic and electrical industries. This Policy applies to information collected through the Site and through related communications with us (such as email and phone). It does not apply to the websites, products, or services of the manufacturers we represent, our distribution partners, or other third parties.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
- Contact form submissions: first and last name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
- Other communications: information you include when you email, call, or write to us, such as your company name, job title, and details about the products, quotes, or representation you are asking about.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information, including:
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked, and dates and times of visits.
- Approximate location: general location (such as city, region, or country) derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 5.
Information from third parties
We may receive information about you from the manufacturers we represent, our distribution partners, and other business contacts (for example, when a principal or distributor refers your inquiry to us), and from publicly available business sources.
Sensitive information
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers, financial account information, precise geolocation, health information, or information about race, religion, or sexual orientation). Please do not submit sensitive information through the Site.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to your inquiries, including requests for product information, quotes, samples, line card details, and representation;
- Connect you with the appropriate manufacturer or distribution partner when needed to fulfill your request;
- Maintain our business relationships with customers, principals, and distributors;
- Operate, maintain, analyze, and improve the Site;
- Protect the security and integrity of the Site, including detecting and preventing spam, fraud, and malicious activity;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions; and
- For any other purpose we disclose to you at the time we collect the information, with your consent where required.
We do not use information submitted through the Site to send you marketing email unless you ask us to.
Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK visitors)
Our Site is intended for businesses in the United States. If you nonetheless contact us from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases: legitimate interests (to respond to business inquiries and to operate and secure the Site); steps prior to a contract (to respond to quote and product requests); consent (where we ask for it, which you may withdraw at any time); and legal obligation (where required by law).
3. How We Disclose Your Information
We disclose personal information only as described below:
- Manufacturers and distribution partners, when needed to respond to your request for product information, pricing, samples, or support.
- Service providers that process information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, such as website hosting, email delivery, analytics (Google Analytics), spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA), website security, and data backup providers.
- Affiliates, including Knight Electronics, Inc. and its related businesses, for the purposes described in this Policy.
- Legal and safety purposes: to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SW Marketing Associates, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business, in which case personal information may be transferred to the successor entity subject to this Policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, as those terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
4. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. In general:
- Inquiry and business contact records: up to 5 years after our last interaction with you, or longer while we have an ongoing business relationship with you or your company.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months, as configured in Google Analytics.
- Security logs: generally up to 90 days.
When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses the following:

Managing cookies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect Site functionality. You can also opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google services. Information collected by Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA is processed by Google under its Privacy Policy. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Third-party content and links. Some pages may link to, or embed content from, third parties such as LinkedIn, YouTube, and the websites of the manufacturers we represent. We do not place advertising or social media tracking pixels on the Site. If you interact with embedded content or click through to those sites, their own cookies and privacy policies apply.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising where required by law (we do not engage in these activities). Because no uniform standard exists for browser “Do Not Track” signals, we do not respond to them separately.
6. Your Privacy Rights
All visitors
You may at any time contact us to ask what information we hold about you, or to request that we correct or delete it, or stop contacting you.
U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence – including Texas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Virginia, and other states with comparable laws – you may have the right to:
- Know / access the personal information we have collected about you;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information we have collected from you;
- Data portability – receive a copy of your personal information in a portable format;
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, and profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects (we do not engage in these activities); and
- Non-discrimination – we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Appeals. If we decline to take action on your request, you may appeal by replying to our response or emailing us with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal.” If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your appeal, you may contact your state Attorney General.
Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require written proof of the agent’s authority and may ask you to verify your identity directly.
Verification and response time. We will verify your identity before fulfilling access, correction, or deletion requests, typically by matching information you provide with information we hold. We will respond within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request, and may extend that period once by an additional 45 days where permitted by law, with notice to you.
EEA and UK rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to restrict or object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We will respond to these requests within one month, extendable as permitted by law.
How to exercise your rights
Email sales@swmktg.com with the subject line “Privacy Request,” or write to us at the address in Section 11. Please describe your request and the state or country where you reside. Exercising your rights is free of charge.
7. International Visitors
SW Marketing Associates is based in the United States, and the Site is hosted in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those in your country.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls, and regular backups. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for business professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, if the changes are material, provide additional notice (such as a notice on the Site).
